Today is Caleb's birthday! It was very low key but we had a dinner he chose (split pea soup) and I made some carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. And, as a surprise, my parents came over with mini ice cream cups and bear claws! I think it was a nice birthday evening for him :)
Well, we've been getting settled in the house and probably have about 95% of everything put away in its new place. There are a few things I just don't know what to do with yet. I'm hoping an idea will hit me one day. Caleb has also been getting used to some yard work...we bought a used lawn mower that came in handy a week or so ago when the weather was warm and the grass was really growing! (Now I'm not even sure we have much grass that survived after the freeze...) Here's a picture of the Homeowner mowing the lawn for the first time:
I've been thinking about what to plant in my vegetable garden this year (if I'm going to start from seeds I've got to start soon). I'm leaning toward bell peppers, tomatoes and possibly green beans. I'd like to try a watermelon again but I'm not sure if I'll have enough room. I want to build an elevated garden box for this stuff so I've got to make that too. Any suggestions or ideas would be great.
Last but not least for this post - I've been on a coupon craze lately. I literally look at least once a day to see if I can get some more coupons either through the mail, in the paper, email or online. It's begun a little 'game' to see how much I can save when I go to the grocery store. I'm learning quite a bit too - for example, Publix will take any competitors coupons and at most places you can combine a manufacturer's coupon with the store coupon. Here are a few sites I'm visiting daily...please share if you have more!
