Happy Birthday!!

Today is Caleb's birthday! It was very low key but we had a dinner he chose (split pea soup) and I made some carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. And, as a surprise, my parents came over with mini ice cream cups and bear claws! I think it was a nice birthday evening for him :)

Well, we've been getting settled in the house and probably have about 95% of everything put away in its new place. There are a few things I just don't know what to do with yet. I'm hoping an idea will hit me one day. Caleb has also been getting used to some yard work...we bought a used lawn mower that came in handy a week or so ago when the weather was warm and the grass was really growing! (Now I'm not even sure we have much grass that survived after the freeze...) Here's a picture of the Homeowner mowing the lawn for the first time:

I've been thinking about what to plant in my vegetable garden this year (if I'm going to start from seeds I've got to start soon). I'm leaning toward bell peppers, tomatoes and possibly green beans. I'd like to try a watermelon again but I'm not sure if I'll have enough room. I want to build an elevated garden box for this stuff so I've got to make that too. Any suggestions or ideas would be great.

Last but not least for this post - I've been on a coupon craze lately. I literally look at least once a day to see if I can get some more coupons either through the mail, in the paper, email or online. It's begun a little 'game' to see how much I can save when I go to the grocery store. I'm learning quite a bit too - for example, Publix will take any competitors coupons and at most places you can combine a manufacturer's coupon with the store coupon. Here are a few sites I'm visiting daily...please share if you have more!

A tough end to the week...

Our co-worker, Moana, died last night while at a plant show in Ft. Lauderdale. She was involved in an accident and when rushed the the hospital, was not able to stay with us. She will be immensely missed.

Proud Sister

I'm so proud of my sister today! She completed her first Marathon at Walt Disney today - 26.2 miles! And, it was done in under 5 hours! Amazing!

And...on a side note, I'm learning some of my limitations with the pregnancy and heat/standing for long periods of time...

1/3 of the way there!

Went to another Doctor appointment this week to check on the baby...everything is going well and according to plan so far. I've actually lost weight since my last visit so I'm going to try and eat more...Yum...I like that...This visit we did get to hear the heart beat though - very exciting. They use an instrument that looks like a small stethascope (sp?) with a speaker attached to it. Our little baby's heart was a healthy 158 beats per minute at the time.

Need a calendar?

I've already printed a 2009 calendar from the internet but I just found this site this evening. If anyone else is looking for a calendar to jot stuff down this year one of these link on this page may be helpful.
