Long time no post...

It has been a while since my last post...so I've got a few updates...pictures from the trip will come later. Speaking of trip, our vacation to Massachusetts was so nice. Caleb and I did a little sight seeing (Plymouth Rock is NOTHING to get excited about), took a ride on the public transportation system and overall just enjoyed being away from the hubub at home. The Public Library in Boston was striking...it looked more like a cathedral or ornate concert hall than a library!- I will post pics soon. AND, we did go to the Red Sox vs. Yankees game at Fenway which was a great experience. In fact, we got there about 4 hours early so we could walk around and take in the atmosphere. For lunch on game day we ate in a restaurant/bar called the Bleacher Bar that is actually part of the Green Monster...they have a window that you can see in front of in the restaurant that actually looks onto the field. Very nice. I also learned what a cranberry bog looks like at a little bitty Winery in Plymouth: a huge patch of weeds. But, it does make some yummy juice and wine!

Our trip officially started when we woke up at 3am on Thursday to leave the house at 3:30am to catch our 5:40am flight. It was smooth sailing on the way up north. Our trip home was more of a saga...so here goes: our flight was originally supposed to leave Boston on Sunday at 5:40pm to Washington/Dullas then to Orlando. It was canceled due to bad weather on the East Coast. So, they decided to reroute us to Chicago where we could then catch a flight to Orlando. The Chicago flight left at 6pm and our connecting flight was scheduled to leave at 8pm. We would have had 30 minutes to catch our connecting flight. However...we sat on the runway in Boston for about 90 minutes. Which means we missed our connecting flight in Chicago...and unlucky for us that was the last flight that day going to Orlando. Mind you ours was not the only flight canceled. There were a lot of upset people in the customer service line trying to find a way home. We were booked on the next available flight with seats - 4:55pm the next day! So we were stuck in Chicago. By this time it's about 10:30pm. So we find a hotel and eat dinner in the hotel bar and go to bed. The next day we just roamed the streets of Chicago. We did get to eat lunch with my cousin Raymond though which was a nice perk. He was just minutes from Michigan Ave which is where we were meandering. Our flight from Orlando to Chicago was delayed twice before we actually boarded...but we finally made it home around 9pm on Monday.

I'm still catching up on sleep from our vacation...I'm hoping that I'll be able to get some extra sleep in this weekend! One of the hardest things to realize when you get back from vacation is that everything kept moving while you were gone...so I've got to play catch up on a few things...and then get to the piles of laundry, the bills that need to be paid and house that needs to get cleaned...
