Good Weekend ;)

Caleb and I actually went somewhere on Friday night - another Howl at the Moon adventure. We joined Kelly, Chad, Melody and Brad there for a few hours...a note to future Howl at the Moon visitors: they don't know a lot of Neil Diamond songs. But, with all the excitement there and the Fairy Tale Themed Friday night, the Coors Girls passing out giveaways and the radio station I won a T-shirt ...unfortunately, I think I left it there...It was nice to be somewhat social's easy to get into a rut.

AND, Saturday morning we did a little canoeing with the interns from work and Mom and her Starfish at Wekiwa Springs State Park. Little did I know that Caleb was an expert canoer (<---is that a word?)...he basically rowed the entire trip. I occasionally put my paddle in the water for good measure but other than that it was all Caleb. We saw lots of turtles, fish, birds and....the most exciting animal of ALLIGATOR!!! It was literally a foot away from our canoe. So close we could have touched him. He hissed at us though and even though my camera was sitting on my lap I froze and didn't get a, nothing to show for it, but honestly he was there. (at least a six footer!)

Saturday night we were under the bright lights of the baseball field. The game actually went 15 innings!!! There is a summer league for college baseball players (called the Florida Collegiate Summer League) in the area so we went to one their games - the best part is it's free. Cameron and Sage came with and won some prizes - Sage ran the bases and both boys did the dizzy bat game (see the video below). Games run through July and the early part of August. They play practically every day of the week so try a game for a change!

Father's Day and a tomato!

We had the OTHER Father's Day on Monday of this week. It seemed to work out better for everyone's schedule. Mom made a feast! Ribs, potatoes, green beans, bread, salad...and to finish it all off - Coconut Pie!

I had my first harvest from my vegetable garden - one tomato. It's a cute's been on the counter for a day now. I don't know what to eat it with! I'm debating between balsamic vinegar and mozzarella cheese OR just a dunk in ranch dressing...I'll eat it tonight no matter what :)

Vegetable Garden Container update & Father's Day

Well, the tomatoes are looking the best so far. There is one rather large one at the base of the plant and two younger tomatoes at the top. I've got a few green beans that are now starting to grow as well - three to be exact. (The pictures below aren't real clear, I was using Caleb's camera and couldn't get the focus on the bean.) There is nothing to show on either pepper plant yet...just lush greenery. I'm wishing now that I had planted more than this earlier...maybe there is still some time to get some lettuce or onions started...

We had the Hamel Father's Day celebration on Sunday and the Lo Father's Day celebration will be tonight. My new digital camera takes pictures under water so the boys were having fun with it. (Observation: people look funny under water)

Hot Weather + Cold Watermelon = YUM!

There's almost nothing better on a hot day than cooling off with some cold watermelon...and the pugs got a little bit this weekend after a walk in Florida's 90 degree weather. De-lish!
Emmett is in blue, Paris is in red and Brantley is in green.

Amy and I went to Winter Park this Saturday to do some shopping...and took a few shots in the park next door. AND, I tested out my camera in the water for the first disclaimer though on the picture below - the fountain had murky water, so it wasn't clear...I'll do some more tests with underwater pictures. The camera has the capability to go 31 feet deep.

We also met up with Caleb's cousin, Dustin, who is based in Jax right now...and then had a few chips and margaritas at Amigos down the street...every weekend should end with a margarita!!

Woke up early

I woke up an hour early today - unintentionally. And by the time I realized it was only 5:45am instead of 6:45am it was no use going back to sleep. I stopped using my cell phone as an alarm because I couldn't figure out how to get the volume down. So, I went back to the radio/alarm clock. Well, somehow, I changed the time last night when I was turning the alarm "on" and woke up at 5am instead of 6am. Yes, I did think it was strange that the dogs were a little sluggish when I took them out and that it was REALLY dark at "6am" when it's been a lot brighter at that time lately...I got a clue when I looked at the microwave clock and it read 5:45am. Oh well, I got to have a relaxing morning - but I may feel repercussions from my relaxing morning come 4pm or 5pm today!

LOOKING FOR A GIFT IDEA? I friend of mine, Melody, has an Etsy Shop on and is trying to build her client base and number of sales. If you are looking for a gift, check out her shop!

I've been up to other things too

So the last few months haven't been ALL about the wedding - I've also started a little garden on the porch. I have some green beans planted, a tomato plant and two bell pepper plants. I do have a Knock-Out Rose bush that has just started to flower and a Hoya hanging basket and two potted gardenias (not pictured)as well. I have yet to see a flower on those gardenia bushes though... Here are some pics:

The day after the wedding, Caleb and I went to Lakeridge Winery in Clermont and took the tour and tasted some of their wines - most are sweet wines since they're made from muscadines.
