A few pictures...

So I've mentioned in earlier posts about pictures from a couple things...and here they are!
This is the delicious birthday cake that my mom surprised me with on my birthday at the Rainforest Coffee Company where we meet for our knitting group. It was REALLY good - (it's a knitted sweater with a ball of yarn at the bottom right if you can't tell).

And here are pictures from the 5K last weekend - a before and after shot...we are committed to do another race in May as well. Good times :)

And since the Chinese New Year has just's a little picture of me from many Chinese New Years ago...

Full weekend

So besides the regular weekend stuff (laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, etc) there was a lot going on - Caleb's cousin, Andrew and Samantha were visiting from D.C. and were here for their daughter, Dayna's first birthday. We got to witness her first experience with chocolate icing. Yum...and she did it right - got it all over her face and up her nose. Good stuff.

That evening Mom and Dad hosted a Chinese New Year dinner which was delicious...I could do that meal every weekend - not sure Mom would go for that though. Duck, pork, wonton soup, steamed buns, what could be better?

On Sunday, some of the girls in the knitting group did a 5K through Winter Park - it was fun to get together with them on a non-knitting night...and we all either met or exceeded our goal for the race. I had a respectable 35:27 for the race considering I haven't run at all since August or September. We are already talking about another 5K in May so I think I will train a little for this one so I can improve my time.

Sunday evening Caleb and I attended a Chocolate Date Night at one of my favorite independent shops, The Olde Cup and and Saucer. I recommend the event to any couple - it was nice to have an evening with the two of us. We sampled different prepared chocolates (truffles, raspberry chocolate, strawberries covered in chocolate and coconut, etc) AND different teas/hot chocolates. The Mayan/Aztec chocolate was very tasty...there's a little chili kick to it.

I'll leave with a little anecdote sent to me by my Aunt Margaret up in NH - just gives us all a little something to think about...

Two Frogs
~Unknown Author
A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.
