Recap on Goals for 2008

I made a list at the start of 2008...let's see what I've accomplished:

Here are a few things that I hope to accomplish in 2008:
1. Get married to Caleb :) (We're thinking about June now) - DONE, May 25th to be exact
2. Learn how to play tennis (lessons scheduled to begin next week!) - WELL, only did it for a few weeks
3. Learn how to play either the guitar or violin - NOPE
4. Keep going to the gym to try and stay healthy - Consistently...I'd have to say NO
5. Buy a home - DONE!!!!
6. Continue attending my knitting group, keep building those friendships - YES...although I'll admit I've not been so great at keep in touch with people lately...
7. Be nicer to people - STILL WORKING ON IT!
8. Look into volunteering with an agency - I LOOKed into it...but never committed....
9. To be continued...

Some things to add to that:
- Went to Malaysia this year
- Baby on the way!!
- Any others??

Some things I've learned (or relearned) in 2008 . . .

1. Don't let a mattress fold over when moving...the springs could pop and create a mountain in the middle of the mattress making it practically impossible to sleep.

2. Don't move during the month of December. There is just too much other stuff going on.

3. Accept the fact that if you have three dogs...you will have to clean up after three dogs.

4. You can't change people.

5. Try your best to get along with all co-workers.

6. The backup sensors on the car doesn't catch everything...especially if the white plastic pole is lower than the sensor. BUMP!

7. Write down the recipes that go over well. You won't remember how you made it the next time you want to make it.

8. Jesus is my Lord and Savior!

9. These are just a few that came to mind, more to learn (and relearn in 2009 I'm sure!)

Christmas Pics

Merry Christmas!

It has been a nice relaxed and lazy Christmas day for us - had brunch at my Parent's house at 11am and did a little gift action then came home and took a nap. It was a great nap. It's nice to have a day to just lounge around. I decided I was not going to unpack or organize any of the boxes still laying around the house today. So it was a good day. Merry Christmas to all!

1st Sonagram

Well, there really isn't much to see yet...looks like a blob to me. But, it does have a heartbeat! No sickness at all...just so tired lately. I've been going to bed between 8pm and 9pm pretty much every night. It just feels so good to sleep!!

My due date was also pushed back a week, so the new date is July 18th.

It's been a while...

My apologies for not posting sooner...I've been sleeping a lot though. My bed time lately has been around 9pm or so. But, I do have Thanksgiving pics to post. (Maybe this evening) Caleb made a tur-duc-en for Thanksgiving (turkey stuffed with a chicken stuffed with a duck...all rounded out with some sausage stuffing). It was a lot of meat!

The latest news though is Caleb and I put another offer on the same house (they had dropped the price so we gave it another shot) and they accepted the offer yesterday! So, hopefully this week the inspector can take a look at the place and if all goes well...then our anticipated close date will be Dec. 18th. WOW - yes, we've managed to cram a lot of big events (if this goes through) in less than one year. WOW.

News of the Day

The news of the day:

Baby on the way!

Caleb and I went to our first Dr. appointment today and found our due date to be July 11, 2009. (Which would put his/her graduation date in the year 2028 I think )

I will be going back in two weeks for a sonogram so after that the due date may be changed a little, but for now it's in July. I was happy to learn that I can continue my Starbucks espresso drink in the morning though. It's recommended no more than 300mg of caffeine a day and that one drink not close to the limit so I should be fine. There is a lot to learn and I'm just trying to take all of the stories/advice I can. We are both very excited though, keep an eye on posts for updates!

Put one in the L column...

My poor Jags - they looked so good yesterday but alas they fell at the end. Good job, Titans, they are still undefeated.

Tennessee 3 0 14 7 24 Final

Jacksonville 0 14 0 0 14

In other news...it is SO cold this morning! When I took the pugs out I got a rush of cold air, I'm guessing it must be in the low 40s, maybe upper 30's. Brr...I just found my jaguar print gloves and a scarf to wear in the car until it warms up. Brr...where did Fall go? (not to mention the summer!?)

I made a Cream of Potato Soup that I am proud of this past week - recipe below:
(keep in mind measurements are approximates and I'm not a professional)
3 medium potatoes
2 1/2 cups of broth (your choice)
1 cup heavy whipping cream
Dill to taste
1-2 Tbsp butter
1-2 Tbsp flour

Boil the potatoes until cooked. Boil Broth. In Separate container on stove, melt butter and then whisk in heavy whipping cream and flour until boiling. Put 1/2 cup of the broth in the whipping cream mixture and bring to boil, stir occasionally. Take off stove. Take 2/3 of the cooked potatoes and the rest of the broth and put in blender or food processor. Blend well. Put the remaining 1/3 of the cooked potatoes and put in the whipping cream mixture. Pour the blended mixture into the whipping cream mixture and add dill to taste. Stir and serve!

And, just two more picture to finish off posting pictures from our trip:

Trying to stay cool

And more pictures still...

We're both having a little trouble adjusting to the the time change...we were both up at 2am on Monday...Hopefully Tuesday will be better!!!

1. At Snake Temple, Malaysia (altar with snakes...yes they are alive)

Pit Vipers I think...the incense is supposed to subdue/calm them (?!)

2. Kek Lok Si Temple, Malaysia
Columns are all marble! The intricate designs are amazing.

3. Khoo Kongsi, Malaysia -A Wealthy Family Temple, built only for the Khoo family

4. Downtown Singapore

5. Night Safari, Singapore
Didn't get good pictures here because no flash photography was allowed - took a tram ride through the attraction where animals could come up to the tram if they wanted to say hello to a human!

6. Orchid Garden, Singapore
More varieties of orchids and other plants than you can count! Only some orchids were in bloom when we went but I can only imagine what the place looks like when it's peak season!!!

7. Foot Spa, Singapore
These are everywhere in Singapore (and I think they are gaining popularity in the U.S.). Basically little fish, "Dr. Fish" as I saw one poster refer to them, nibble away at the dead skin cells on your feet. It tickles :) We did it twice while in Singapore - once with a back massage while we soaked our feet!

8. Aunt and Hao Han - he's so tall!!!

9. Singapore Flyer
Looks like a big ferris wheel - highest point is 42 stories. Let's you see a lot of the country, full of good info about the country.

One of the capsules on the Flyer...each can hold up to 28 people. Takes 30 minutes to make one round - highly recommended!

More pictures!

1. Picture of grandparent's old house - now a franchise coffee shop.

2. Crossing the Penang Bridge

3. Dad trying to drive stick shift with his left hand.

4. Family Photo - morning of the Tea Ceremony.
